This water, lightly scented with fresh mint and cucumber, is sneakily refreshing. For the full treatment, serve it in a glass icy cold from the freezer. The salt brings the flavors of the cucumber up, and the longer the water steeps, the more intense the flavors become.

Ingredients

  • 1/8 loosely packed cup fresh mint leaves, washed, or to taste

  • 3 generous slices of cucumber, or to taste

  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Combine the mint leaves, cucumber, 1 quart cool water, and the pinch of salt in a large carafe or pitcher. Cool in the refrigerator at least 30 minutes. Serve in frosty glasses pulled from the freezer.
