Whether you're looking for a full evening of fine dining or quick food from a street cart, New York City is home to some of the world's most amazing eating experiences. However, not everyone in the city can afford even the essentials of a healthy diet, let alone a four-course meal. One man is on a mission to help those folks. His name is Jorge Muñoz Zapata, a school bus driver known in his second life as the Angel of Queens. For more than 12 years, every day after work, he feeds the hungry out of coolers in his truck; much of the food is paid for with his own money. Contributor Von Diaz has his story.
[Ed. note: We have received many inquiries from listeners asking how they can contribute to Jorge's efforts. He is working on a new website, but in the meantime, you can contact the organziation via An Angel in Queens Inc., PO Box 210054, Woodhaven, NY 11421.]
